The title of this project takes reference to the phenomena of the countdown, which has been used for centuries with a range of applications from starting a simple food race to launching a rocket to the moon. However, we are using the countdown to illustrate the mechanism in which the artworks chosen for the exhibition will reach the public. To match the concept of the exhibition, they will be launched rather into virtual ether rather than placed on a wall, because they have been conceived as zero gravity objects and formed into artworks using Augmented Reality. All of the artworks chosen -whether this be from seasoned professionals or artists who have been bootstrapped into their first launch-- all of the artworks explore the concept and palette of zero gravity art, these playing a key role in how the works were conceived by the artists who created them, the modus in which they are presented to the public, and how they are perceived in the end as being "Space Art". Featured is a broad selection of zero gravity artworks ranging from actual works that have been launched in to outer space to premier works that will find their "launching" into virtual space at the opening of the exhibition. All of the works have been designed to be viewed in the zero gravity field of virtual space, which enables them to float in space without being tethered wall or podium and to "orbit" through the exhibition space as a collective of 21st Century "Space Art".
